USA Surfing to Carry Finals Action Live
San Clemente, California (June 24, 2021) – After three days of epic Lowers, mother nature delivered more challenging conditions just in time for “Moving Day” – the elimination heats that determine which surfers move on to tomorrow’s finals in the Toyota USA Surfing Championships presented by Got Milk?
USA Surfing Championship is the season finale of Prime Series events on both coasts, and other qualifiers across the Mainland and Hawaii. The event gathers the best under 18 surfers in the nation to compete for national titles and positions on USA Surfing’s elite junior teams.
Usasurfing.org broadcast the finals action live today and will again tomorrow with instant replay and analysis.
The level of competition is intense in every age division. The day started with a perfect 10 in the Girls U12 division, after Hawaii’s Chesney Guinotte reeled off a series of critical frontside turns. Ten-year-old Alana Lopez surfed well beyond her years to earn a 9.5.
18-year-old Alyssa Spencer’s sizzling backhand scored a 9.6 in the girls U18 quarterfinals. Hawaii’s Shion Crawford had a pair of 9s in the Boys U18 round three.
The field of elite surfers is now narrowed to the eight best surfers in each age division. The remaining surfers will battle it out to clinch USA Surfing Championship titles.
The USA Surfing Championship titles earned through the history of the event have gone on to the World Surf League Championship Tour and now the Olympic Games this summer. Read A Front Row Seat to the Future of USA Surfing.
